Kettering Town are set to sign their former midfielder Brett Solkhon on a one-year deal. The 27-year-old played at Corby Town and Brackley Town after leaving the Poppies in 2009.
"I'm very happy to be back, there's a good few years left in me and I want to be playing at the highest level," Solkhon told BBC Radio Northampton.
"The chairman has been looking to sign players and get the club up, and I think that's achievable."
Solkhon has agreed terms on a one-year deal, with the club having an option on an extension.
He is expected to sign the contract before Kettering's pre-season friendly against Northampton Town.
Solkhon would be the fifth player to return to Rockingham Road this summer, after Moses Ashikodi, Luke Graham, Iyesden Christie and Tommy Jaszczun.
